Ar. Ritu Sara Thomas
Assistant Professor
Ritu is a conservation architect with active research interests in the field of heritage conservation, historic urban conservation and cultural landscapes of India.
She graduated M.Arch from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi and B.Arch from National Institute of Technology, Calicut with top honours. Her collaborative architecture consultancy firm, EZHA, promotes sustainable models for heritage conservation and has won accolades including UNESCO Asia Pacific Award 2023, IIA Kerala State Gold leaf Award 2023, Vanitha Veedu 2023 and DOMUS International Award for Restoration and Preservation 2023. With almost half a decade of experience in teaching, Ritu facilitates in learning of theory subjects such as History of Architecture and Architectural Conservation.
Achievements:
Gold Medallist in Master of Architecture, Architectural Conservation, SPA Delhi, 2019. Gold Medallist in Bachelors of Architecture, NIT Calicut, 2016.
EZHA was selected as one of the top 9 finalists out of 120 shortlisted entries in National Architecture Competition, Reweave Kozhikode, at YAF Crosswords 2022 hosted by IIA Calicut Chapter, Kerala.
Publications:
Awarded Best Paper for the presentation of ‘An Analysis of Flood Resilience of the Built Heritage of Thiruaranmula’ in the ICOMOS Scientific Symposium, 2020 under the theme ‘Structural and Material Analysis in Built Heritage Conservation’ held on 22nd – 23rd May, 2020, organised in collaboration with NCSHS and IIT, Madras.
Presented paper on ‘Interpreting Heritage in COVID Times: The case of Heritage Village of Thiruaranmula’ at the i-coverage Symposium, 2020, conducted by DIT University, held in August 2020.
